In high school a new bead store opened up in town, and my mom was really into making overly intricate little beaded necklaces, so she really wanted the employee discount and made me get a job there. I was the only employee, and mainly counted out the tinsiest of beads into bags of 50 or 100 while getting called a circus freak by old ladies because i had a streak of purple in my hair.
My best guess is around $107, minus taxes.

    Wait – 2gether wasn’t a reality program?

My first paycheck was for the hefty sum of $50. When I was 11 or 12, I got a “job” pulling weeds in a family friend’s garden while they were on vacation. It was hard work, but someone had to do it, right? Plus, after I was done weeding, I got to watch The Monkees and drink Werther’s Ginger Ale.

When I was 16 I got a job at McDonald’s. The first paycheck I got was for $14.95. I went to the comic book store and bought a Superman t-shirt.

My first paycheck was for $80 for 2 days of squeegeeing air bubbles out of hotel room signs for a design company.

My first paycheck was $25 when I was 11 or 12, for playing trombone in a jazz band at Just Java Coffeeshop.

    P.S. Love Nigel’s humour!
