My first impression was of Pee Wee Herman. I was 11 and called in to a local radio station. I guess I did a good job, because they were about to put me on the air…but I folded like a cheap hooker who got hit in the stomach by a fat guy with sores on his face.

In a pseudo-meta turn of events, my first impression a copy of PMC favorite Rob Palsen in his role of Raphael. I grew up with the cartoon and have always loved Rob’s voice. Unfortunately, my rendition was terrible an consistently annoyed my mom.

On a related note, it’s so satisfying to her Rob return to the turtles as Donatello. I was weary of the new TMNT but knowing Rob was involved had me give it a chance and it turned out to be pretty spectacular.

My first impression was of a broken starter on my Mom’s Plymouth Fury. The mechanic was able to accurately diagnose the problem based on my impression alone. I think I was 9.

My first impression was, Shaggy from Scooby Doo, it was really great actually. I remembered entertained all my friends saying: “Zoinks! Like a G-G-Ghost!!” my 2nd was Woody woodpecker XD

I’m only 16 but I’ve been impersonating things since… Forever. The farthest back I can remember is doing “I’m Banjo!” From the n64 game, “Diddy Kong Racing.”

The earliest impression I can remember was of Dr. Claw from the Inspector Gadget. Me and a few of my friends went to see the Inspector Gadget movie back in the early 2000’s and I remember being disappointed by the face that Dr. Claw didn’t have his normal balls-the-size-of-a-small-galaxy voice. Apparently, my friends never saw the cartoon, or at least had no memory of Dr. Claws crazy murderous robot voice (keep in mind that we were all about 7-8), so I attempted to mimic the voice for them. I gave a deep stance, put my entire body into it, and let loose with the deepest voice I could muster. That was the day I learned that people don’t mind if you puke in public, so long as your a child. I still feel sorry for that elderly couple that stood in front of me.

I did not really learn to develop an appreciation for animation or the incredibly talented voice actors that bring its characters to live until I was a teenager. However, I definitely remember trying to impersonate characters from Futurama and Drawn Together specifically, and still do today! My favorites from Futurama have been Billy West’s Fry and Professor Farnsworth, John DiMaggio’s Bender, Phil LaMarr’s Hermes Conrad, Maurice LaMarche’s Morbo. In Drawn Together, my favorites are more female-heavy, Cree Summer’s Foxxy Love, Tara Strong’s Princess Clara and Toot Braunstein, and Jess Harnell’s Captain Hero. Unfortunately, I make for a much better fan than I do voice actor/impressionist, but I still have fun with them on my own!

My first impressions were my friends and I quoting dialogue from Spongebob Squarepants. The impressions weren’t very good, but the joy came from the back-and-forth we would have. I still quote Spongebob to this day.

Well, Baxter Stockman in the original (adult) Mirage comics WAS black, so it’s not a surprise. They made him white in the 80’s cartoon, because they were scared of having an African American villain in a kids’ cartoon.

Not sure if it counts but the first impression I ever did was the PeeWee Herman laugh. I thought it was AMAZING at the time and thought I was going places…the first impersonation I did that included actual words however, was my version of Cher singing “Turn Back Time”. To this day I break out this impersonation but I label it more appropriately – “Hey guys, do you want to hear my impersonation of Sean Connery impersonating Cher singing ‘Turn Back Time’?”
