1st time camping was with dad and my sister at Summersville Lake, WV. It was shocking to me as a 12-yr old to think that people enjoyed this. No TV! No showers! Now in my 40s, I love it. Go figure!

I think probably the only time I’ve gone camping was with my Brownie troop a zillion years ago. We made tin can stoves and cooked Chicken Tonight, and that is all I remember about it. I generally hated anything to do with Girl Scouts, so I’m going to assume I’m not a fan?

!st time camping was an 8 day canoe trip….. with nothing but errors and stupid things happening to us to make for me to not only avoid rivers camping and the woods but nature in general. So to start we packed and loaded into vans the food we would take with us for the 8 days, and when we left we left half the food back at the camp having now enough food for four days. Which wouldnt have sucked too bad if not for the raccoons who got into the food we hung in trees to make it harder for the bears. So now we had even less food. Cheerios and Tang anyone….. Anyway no food, a kid allergic to bees gets stung by the mother of all wasps, a trip leader or 2 gets fired for things they wouldnt talk to us about, we got soaked and tipped in the rapids, it rained… a lot and needless to say theres a lot of us who went on that trip who probably dont camp anymore.

1st time camping was with my grandparents somewhere in WI. It was great!!! Grandma would cut up leeches & put them on our hooks to fish. All we had to do was drop the hook in the water & watch all the fish swim up to it. Paddle boating out to far & got caught up in some seaweed stuff…had to get towed out by some friendly boaters. Campfires & making s’mores is a must for everyone I think. Grandpa would make a huge breakfast in the morning. The only part I didn’t like was scaling the fish…ugh. Ahh those were the good ole days.

First time camping was with my Grandma at a place called Butterfield Country, AKA Vail Lake in California. It was hailing on us but we didn’t care, and my Grandma packed mint/chocolate pudding and space foodsticks (remember them?) BTW, Molly was a delight, and I hate to go uber-geek, but 7 Ringwraiths, Molly???

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie

    God, I am a nerd…

PS I am in love with Vanessa

I might have gone camping with my family before it, but the first camping trip I remember was with my Scouts troop. It was amazing. All the fun of campfires and outdoors activities you could imagine, and all the dirty words and cursing you could ever want.

First time I went camping I was 6 weeks old. My parents say I liked it a lot. I don’t remember much from the time.

Not the same Liz as above, hi other-Liz!

The first time I went camping was about age 7. It was a mother/daughter Girl Scout camping trip, but my mom had either just had or was just about to have my youngest brother, so she couldn’t come. I hated it and remember crying a lot of the weekend. (And I should say that two of my best friends were on the trip and both of their moms took care of me as their own. So this wasn’t a case of the poor abandoned child camping. Don’t want it to sound worse than it was!)

But I’m not much of an outdoorsy person, so I may have hated it with my own mom there anyway. Who knows.

The first time I ever went camping was in the Swiss Alps with the boy scouts. I was 12 at the time and since then have never smelled cleaner air in my life. One day of the trip we hiked up to the top of a popular peak. If we would have followed the proper trail we would have been up and down the mountain in a few hours. Instead it took like six hours to get to the top due to our troop leader not reading the map properly and leading us astray. Most of the troop turned back, but five of us made it to the top and enjoyed the greatest tomato soup made by man. Unfortunately we got lost in a forest near the base of the mountain in the dark. No expected to be still out at this time so no one brought a flashlight(boy scouts talk a big game, but are rarely always prepared… maybe eagle scouts but not the rest of us). Blindly in the dark thick forest we all made it out alive to get stuck in a hail storm. We found shelter in dumpster filled shelter and could not help but laugh and the craziness of what was happening. A few minutes later the hail stopped and we made it to the campsite an hour later with everyone asleep. We said goodnight and went to our tents. That was Day 3 of a week long trip. I love camping but nothing will ever top that week.
