Oh, man, Wacky Wall Walkers. I remember the toy clear as day, but the cereal only vaguely. I’m pretty sure they came with Cap’n Crunch. The silver medal would go to Frosted Flakes when they had the little Tony the Tiger figurine you would put in a two liter bottle of water, then squeeze it to make Tony go up and down.

Just randomly found Mack on Twitter about a week ago, and today I wake up to this podcast. Still have Iron Will on VHS, loved it SO MUCH back in the day. Great Ep, guys.

I’m not sure specifically which toys I was trying to get but I do know that the only reason I would get any type of cereal was only for the toy inside. It didn’t matter the type of cereal. I also remember the Nintendo cereal. That was awesome (well, maybe not the taste)!

I remember eating 6 boxes of Kellog’s Corn Flakes–a cereal I HATED as a kid–so that I could get enough UPCs to get a Darkwing Duck fanny pack. Usually we just had generic cereal without toys, but I begged my mom to let me eat those bland toasted flakes so I could have a sweet place to stash whatever 8 year olds put in fanny packs back in the day. If I’m not mistaken, by the time I actually got the fanny pack, Darkwing Duck was no longer on TV.

The only toy I remember getting from a cereal box was a Babe stuff animal. My mom actually got 2, so my brother and I wouldn’t fight over it (although I’m pretty sure he was a teenager at that time). Only problem was that having 2 meant we could never figure out which one was mine and which one was his.

Frosted Flakes c. 1992. They had sets of 4 characters from each of the Disney Afternoon cartoon shows. Luckily, if you collected enough UPCs, you could mail them in with a modest $10 or so fee and get the entire set. You better believe that’s what I did! Still have them. 🙂
