This is a tough question because there are so many good animated movies to choose from but the one I love still to this day will always be Peter Pan! I first fell in love with Peter when Mary Martin played Peter! I remember watching her perform on television and making sure my parents recorded it for me. I always wanted to be Peter Pan so I could fly, have a fairy as a friend and never have to grow up and could have adventures in Neverland 🙂 Peter Pan is the best and is still a classic!!

This question was so exciting! I started running through every animated movie I’ve ever seen! My first obsession though was Beauty and the Beast for sure. It’s still, in my opinion, the best Disney movie ever and it definitely impacted me on so many levels. All I wanted was to be Belle and was her for Halloween at least twice (once as a child and then again as an adult). I got to perform it on stage in High School, which was awesome, and I’m probably going to go home after work today and watch it again.

    Great episode, y’all!

I think the first animated movie that I remember watching over and over again was The Land Before Time. Yes, I watched Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a bazillion times and had every line of dialogue memorized as if it was my mother’s maiden name, the street I grew up on or my best friend in high school. The Land Before Time didn’t do for me what those movies did but I do think it’s the first animated film to really make me want to keep watching it over and over. I mean, the part where they’re mom dies. What. Ugh. Fuck. Also, my teacher in the second grade was Ms. Petry, which I believe was the pterodactyl’s name.

The one that stuck with me the most was when I was very young and my parents trusted my older brothers to watch me as the three of us saw Bambi. I don’t really remember the movie other than being very afraid (and I don’t really want to talk about it anymore).

P.S. Scott Adsit! Yes – Hornberger!

My first favourite animated movie is The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie when me and my family watch it a couple of times as family night. Even though this movie is decades old, I still think that the usage of content and humour is NOT old.

The first animated movie I fell in love with was Disney’s Robin Hood. I remember feeling that it was really unique, though I didn’t know why at the time (though now I can applaud its pacing, its very unique animation style, the fact that it doesn’t talk down to kids). It was just so fun to me and was complex, with a beavy of great characters. No one in that movie feels like a throwaway and all of the outcasts are celebrated, something that would have been very important to me as a kid.

Haha! Wow – no joke, the first animated movies that I was hooked by were The Last Unicorn and Watership Down. Somehow we had bootleg copies taped onto Beta tapes; I watched them both non-stop (along with The Dark Crystal). I don’t feel like I was negatively affected by them, though. On the contrary, I think they have given me a heightened sense of compassion for others. .. Alternatively, I learned to be a good kid ’cause otherwise the Red Bull or General Woundwort would kill me. xD

Another movie that I was completely entranced by but had only seen once as a child was Ringing Bell (Chirin no Suzu). The first scene when *spoilers, I guess* Chirin’s mother is slaughtered by the wolves followed me to adulthood; it’s the only scene I really remembered, aside from the basic idea of a lamb trained/raised by a wolf. I tried to figure out what movie it was for decades and finally found it just a couple of years ago. Yay Internet!
