Today Mashable.com posted a story picking ten podcasts that are sure to make you laugh–and Pop My Culture was number nine! We’re in GREAT company, sharing the list with such amazing shows as Nerdist, WTF with Marc Maron, The Pod F. Tompkast, Never Not Funny, You Look Nice Today, Comedy Bang Bang, You Made it Weird, and our good friend Janet Varney’s new show The JV Club! Big thanks to Mashable’s Christine Erickson for including us! Check out the complete story here:
ENDING MARCH 16th! if you donate $50.00 or more to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society ROB PAULSEN ( Or Yakko! Or Pinky! Or Raphael!) will record a personalized outgoing message for your phone!
Just donate here– then email Vanessa (vanessahoperagland@gmail.com) your name and character preference! Let’s fight cancer with character(s)!
Four years ago, my writing partner Katie Hooten got the news that both her husband Tim and her then-four-year-old daughter Eva had leukemia, albeit in different forms. Anyone who has had cancer affect his or her family knows how hard it hits you; Katie got it doubled. But there’s good news to report: Eva’s now cancer-free and Tim’s living with the disease thanks to a second-generation drug that was made possible by donations by people like you to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Every four minutes, someone gets the news that he or she has a blood cancer, and every ten minutes, someone dies of a blood cancer. The LLS — we can abbreviate it from here on out — is behind a lot of the research that has developed medication and treatment that can save, and is saving, lives.
I am supported by my family and friends on what we are calling “Team Big Accomplishment Squad!” And hopefully, I’m also supported by YOU! I really want to make Woman of the Year, which goes to the nominee who can raise the most cash for LLC in a ten-week period. My goal is $60,000, but every dollar will help fight blood cancer. Every dollar donated is a “vote” for me, too.
So, you wanna help!? YAY! Click here to donate. There’s also information there if you’d prefer to send a paper check. And if you want to throw a few bucks toward my dad’s ponytail shearing, you can click here to help reach that $5,000 goal and “Let Larry Shear!”
After many, many months (sorry!) of deliberation, waiting for designs, and deciding which direction we wanted to go with our merchandise, we are THRILLED to announce the winner of the t-shirt Contest!
Len gave us an AMAZING design that encapsulates our show and three of our favorite things. Vanessa, Cole, and pop art.
Congrats, and thank you Len. You’re an amazing artist and we are in love with what you made! Everyone on the ol’ tweet box should follow him to see more of his work: @jawboneradio.
A special shout-out to our runner up (it was close) the insanely talented Andy Finkle. It was a tough draw! All of the submissions will be posted in a gallery soon- we can’t thank you guys enough for your time and creativity!
Since Cole is too busy being chauffeured around Vegas in a gold limousine to trouble himself with watching this week’s results show, this recap is being guest written by TV/pop culture/dancing Asians fan Heather (@HeatherRecently on Twitter). Cole will be back next week, assuming he didn’t lose a tooth (or find a baby) during his absence.
Cat introduces the show looking gorgeous in one-shoulder red dress and cherry red lipstick. She uses a cocktail analogy that somehow implies a hangover. I can only assume this is directed at Debbie Reynolds, who took Wadi with her to the assisted living community last night and played strip bingo into the wee hours of the morning (citation needed).
